Co-curriculum Pursuit

Shri Ram Universal School is deeply committed to fostering environmental awareness through its active program, “SHRI PARYAVARAN”. This initiative seeks to ignite curiosity in young minds about their environment and instill a sense of responsibility. By providing hands-on experiences, the program helps students develop into environmentally conscious global citizens.

The school emphasizes the importance of reusing and recycling materials, particularly in hands-on activities. These efforts not only raise awareness about environmental issues but also encourage the students to share these lessons with others. Our dedicated “Earth Ambassadors” play a key role in inspiring their peers and the wider community through their actions and advocacy.

The program also nurtures important learning skills such as observation, research, inquiry, analysis, experimentation, and critical and creative thinking. With the environment at the core of the school’s values, students lead various initiatives, bringing meaningful change both within the school and in the broader community.

Here are some of the key programs that the school will be rolling out in the coming years:

  • School Energy Monitors: This club is dedicated to monitoring and reducing the school’s energy consumption. Members conduct daily checks to ensure lights, fans, and air conditioners are turned off when not in use. They maintain records and present their findings during school assemblies to encourage further action.
  • Anti-Cracker and Child Labour Campaign: This campaign raises awareness about the environmental damage caused by crackers and the exploitation of children in their production. Students are educated on the harmful effects of cracker manufacturing, especially for underage workers exposed to toxic chemicals. Additionally, the campaign highlights how cracker burning contributes to global warming.
  • Eco Holi: In the lead-up to Holi, students are educated about the environmental impact of the festival. While celebrating the joy of the occasion, children are encouraged to use eco-friendly, organic colors and minimize water wastage, which is a growing concern during the festival.
  • Save The Tiger Program: Through the “Kids for Tigers” initiative, students learn about endangered species, with a special focus on tigers. This program fosters an understanding of biodiversity, the balance of ecosystems, and the interdependence of humans and nature.
  • E-Waste Campaign: The school conducts awareness drives and workshops to educate students on the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling electronic waste (E-Waste).
  • Plastic Awareness: As part of the school’s “No Poly Bag Zone” policy, the use of alternatives such as cloth and jute bags is actively promoted. Students are encouraged to reduce plastic usage and opt for biodegradable and eco-friendly materials wherever possible.

These initiatives are all designed to engage students in sustainable practices, empowering them to make positive environmental changes at school and in their communities.
